Luxury vs Reality | leather skirt

I’m back with another edition of Luxury vs. Reality. Given that it’s the holiday season a.k.a peak shopping time, I figured I’d enlighten all the leather-loving gals with my latest discount find. In the past few years, I’ve definitely developed a love for leather. It’s cool, it’s edgy, it make any outfit instantly pop. Unfortunately, it also comes with a hefty price tag.

But have no fear, the faux leather market has been getting better and better and this Zara pencil skirt is no exception. While I love the look of the Helmut Lang one (and all Helmut Lang stuff if we’re being honest) I simply can’t afford to spend that much. The Zara one is a perfect substitute for the real deal. You’ll get a similar look for a fraction of the price.

Fall Fashion

Fall Fashion FindsHello friends! Long time no see! Life has been crazy busy for me lately, with a new job, some traveling and just the overall ins and outs of daily life. My goal is to get back to a regular blogging schedule so fingers crossed I can make it happen :)

In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite things as of late. Though Fall is technically here the weather in NorCal has been far from it. Regardless, I’ve got my eye on a few pieces that I’d love to add to my wardrobe. These would probably be categorized as more West Coast Fall pieces because they’re a bit lighter but with some layering even the colder climates can enjoy them. And the best part? Almost all of these items are on sale! Check them out:

1. Lambswool Zip Sweater in Colorblock – J.Crew
2. Joie Mariner Pant – 6pm
3. Leather Biker Jacket – Zara
4. Jeffrey Campbell Boone Bootie in Silver Snake – Nasty Gal
5. Balfour Jacket- Aritzia
6. Jeffrey Campbell Lorah Heel in Nude – Nasty Gal

Beauty Product Favorites

Last year, I shared my daily beauty routine. Well, more than a year later my beauty and skincare favorites seem to have taken a complete 180. In my ongoing quest to incorporate more natural products into my beauty routine, I’ve started using a variety of different items that I’m extremely happy with (and yes I do heavily favor Josie Maran, what can I say girlfriend has some good stuff!) Though I’m definitely not 100 percent there when it comes to using only natural products, I’m doing my best to blend some old favorites with new ones. The products that I’m using on rotation are listed below:

1) Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer
2) Josie Maran Argan Oil
3) Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation
4) Lavanila- The Healthy Deodorant
5) Eau Thermale Eluage Eye Contour Care
6) Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Mascara
7) Josie Maran Argan Creamy Concealer Crayon
8) Hydroxatone AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex
9) Flower Glisten Up Highlighter Chubby

Summer Salad

Hello there! Long time no see. I’ve taken quite a long break from blogging, mostly due to my grad school schedule but since graduation in June it’s just been well, I guess I can chalk it up to it being summer.

Speaking of summer time, I recently made this salad which yes isn’t exactly revolutionary but so damn good I felt compelled to share. And since cooking is still not exactly something I love to do, a quick, easy meal is a win in my book. All you’ll need is some arugula, cubed watermelon and feta cheese, white balsamic vinegar and voila! A delicious summer salad is born. Enjoy!

I drizzled some white balsamic vinegar as my dressing but you can make a fancier version of this salad, courtesy of Ina Garten, with this recipe.

luxury vs reality |Rockstud pumps

luxury-vs-reality-rockstar-valentinosAfter a long absence from the world of blogging, I’m back with another installment of Luxury vs. Reality for all you budget-conscious fashionphiles out there.

The ubiquitous Valentino “Rockstud” pumps seen on every blogger, everywhere will run you only the low, low price of a thousand bucks. Now, this is all good if you are one of the lucky few who can afford these puppies but for the other 99 percent I’m pretty sure the much-more practical Sam Edelman “Ollie” pumps will be your shoe of choice.

I like the Rockstud pump, I really do. But once I started seeing them everywhere I found myself enjoying them less and less (and sure maybe their lack of affordability in my life may or may not have played a factor lol.) I’m no fashion expert but to me this seems to fall more in line with the “trend” shoe and not one you can safely wear 5-10 years from now. For me, the Sam Edelman pumps are a much smarter bang for your buck.
